Jordan Spieth was having a decent round yesterday. Level par for the first seven holes and all was well with the world, until the par four 8th. On a hole that requires precision and tidy positioning off the tee, Speith’s tee shot hit the fairway but then rolled too far, ran out of runway and dropped over the cliff edge.
Day One of perhaps the most eagerly anticipated Masters is now in the books, and it was always going to be a challenge for this tournament to live up to the extraordinary hype surrounding it.

It didn’t rain (that much) today, and the crowds came out in their droves. Who says the young guns aren’t already making a difference? They came to see Jordan, and he did not disappoint. In the end he won comfortably with a two under 69 to beat Henrik Stenson by four shots.
