Hybrids are becoming a bigger component of all golfers’ bags. Titleist have always been at the forefront of design and technology when it comes hybrid clubs. Well it’s been a pretty exciting week for golf on the island of Ireland. First, Shane Lowry’s spectacular win at the 148th Open in Northern Ireland and then the magnificent Adare Manor in County Limerick has been announced as host of The Ryder Cup 2026. Not too shabby!
The GolfPunk team love the game of golf and are big supporters of the idea of improving the etiquette on the course and in general. However, this week the big news running around social media was about the US amateur golfer that carded an impressively poor 194 for 18 holes and things got worse when the Florida State Golf Association confirmed it was actually a 131 over par 202!
There have been many an odd occurence at the oldest of all the majors but these are our pick of the top ten weirdest Open Championship moments.
We were interested to see that Mizuno have today announced that they are launching three new sets of irons and are allowing us normal folk access to their T-Series wedges previously, the preserve of the professionals only. Most excitingly of all, for one of the team at GolfPunk at least, was that the range includes clubs for lefties too!

We get a loads of stuff sent to us at GP Towers and a much of it doesn’t really get us going. One area sure to unite the team are any efforts to bring in young’uns into our beloved sport and on Sunday 14th (this weekend) Crown Golf have a beauty as over 100 juniors can walk away with a year’s free membership!
You know something is iconic when its value on the second hand market can be more than when it was new. It happens to some old cars, it happens to certain fine wines and expensive spirits and occasionally it happens to golf clubs that are owned by famous dudes but it doesn’t happen often to regular golf kit.

The weather has been rubbish so far this year (on both sides of the pond it seems) and it’s got the team dreaming of sunnier climbs. The Maldives is always a luxurious option (especially if you're feeling flush), but there was never a need to take the wrenches….UNTIL NOW!

It used to be that it was only the BBC’s series DIY SOS The Big Build that could get to us, but not anymore, now the obvious friendship between US Open champion Gary Woodland and Amy Bockerstette, is quite simply something else.
