After four seasons in one event, The Players Championship concluded on Monday with Cameron Smith becoming the fifth Australian to pick up the coveted trophy and a cheque for a whopping $3.6 million. The 2020 AIG Women’s Open champion set a career-low opening-round of 64 at Pelican Golf Club this afternoon and holds a two-stroke advantage in the inaugural Pelican Women’s Championship presented by DEX Imaging and Konica Minolta. Thompson ultimately shot an even-par 70 on the day and is tied for 22nd.
Everyone loves Beef Johnson, what’s not to like? He is a lovely chap and is nice to everyone both on and off the course and boy can he play golf. That’s why it was sad to see Beef’s loss of form and subsequently learn that this great bloke from London was struggling mentally.
