The Giant of Portrush!

They needed it to be tough out there if they were going to challenge Shane Lowry but in the end, it was too tough and the conditions actually played in to the hands of the big man. For a man who grew up playing links golf up and down Ireland he was always going to be one of best equipped if the really high winds came.

Woodland stand firms

Congratulations to Gary Woodland who stood firm under the pressure of a charging Brooks Koepka, the world number one and winner of four of the last eight majors he had played in. Others launched a challenge, most notably England’s Justin Rose, but all faded away as Woodland stuck to his task.

Foot Golf, Slam Golf, Power Play Golf, Disc Golf, Speed Golf – we've had the bloody lot in recent years. People trying to 'make golf more interesting'. All very commendable, and some shrewdsters may even be making money out of it, but it's a total waste of time. It's not golf is it? Well, I suppose Speed Golf is golf, kind of. Whataver, the answer has been staring us all in the face all this time.

Mental Lessons from Tiger Woods

There are some athletes who seem to transcend their sport and become names so big that even people who have little interest in their respective sports know who they are.

Paradise Found At Heritage Le Telfair, Mauritius

Ever since we started GolfPunk back in the day, we've had a slightly irrational desire to go and play golf in Mauritius. I mean, who wouldn't? But, somehow it never seemed attainable. The very idea of it seems so out of reach, right?... the Indian Ocean, white sands, fancy cocktails and golf shots across the ocean.
