The now World number three saw off the challenge of Kevin Streelman to win by a single shot after carding a final-round three-under-par 67. American Will Gordon and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes finished tied for third on 17 under.
A real headache is emerging for the PGA Tour as Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the Travelers Championship. Koepka’s caddie Ricky Elliott tested positive for Covid-19 a day after Graeme McDowell’s caddie had a positive test.
Graeme is the second player to have to pull out of the Travelers Championship after his caddie Ken Comboy tested positive for COVID-19. Given the proximity player and caddie have been in for the last couple of weeks there is a risk the man from Northern Ireland may also have contracted the virus.
The US PGA Championship will go ahead behind closed doors on the rescheduled dates of 6th to 9th August. The event moved from its original date in mid May will be the first major of the year and is taking place at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
