Top 5 Slowest Golfers Revisited

Ok we are not going to let this one drop. Slow play is killing our game and the lead must come from the professional ranks. In the second round of the Northern Trust, Bryson DeChambeau took it to another level.

The FedEx Cup Playoffs

Well we have run out of majors but Tiger will still be coming out to play in August as the FedEx Cup Playoffs commence this week in Jersey City, with The Northern Trust. It’s all change with the play-offs and we had to read it a few times before we sussed it out. So here’s how it will work..

Smiling Cinderella steals hearts and title

As majors go, the AIG Women’s British Open was a classic.  Hinako Shibuno, the 20 year old Japanese rookie, who had never set foot in a tournament outside of her home country holed, in some style we might add, a 20ft putt on the 18th to secure the title. Just moments before Lizette Salas had missed a much shorter chance in front of an amazing crowd.

South Korea’s Hyo Joo Kim holds a one-shot lead over compatriot Sung Hyun Park heading into day four of the Evian Championship.  Indeed, Kim has no shortage of company from home as five of the top six players are from South Korea with the only interloper being Shanshan Feng of China.

Ireland to host Ryder Cup in 2026

Well it’s been a pretty exciting week for golf on the island of Ireland. First, Shane Lowry’s spectacular win at the 148th Open in Northern Ireland and then the magnificent Adare Manor in County Limerick has been announced as host of The Ryder Cup 2026.  Not too shabby!

Lee Westwood backed up a first day 68 with an impressive 67 and is currently tied in 3rd position with Tommy Fleetwood, just one shot off the overnight lead. Based on his recent form this is somewhat unexpected.  What has changed you might ask?  Well he’s brought Helen Storey, his girlfriend, in as his looper and, despite her not knowing much about golf, it just might provide the fairy tale story for one of the finest golfers never to win a major.

What Club would agree to host this?

Now we at GolfPunk are not averse to admiring the fairer sex both on and off the golf course but even our eyebrows were raised when we were given the heads up about an event called ‘The Sink the Pink – Big Boy And Bigger Golf Day!

PURE CLASS GARY

GolfPunk isn’t really that into the mushy stuff which makes us generally quite uncomfortable and exposes our lack of emotional intelligence and stunted personal development.  It used to be that it was only the BBC’s series DIY SOS The Big Build that could get to us, but not anymore, now the obvious friendship between US Open champion Gary Woodland and Amy Bockerstette, is quite simply something else.

Koepka will make history

I just placed a bet on the US Open. I got odds of just shy of 6/1 on one Mr Brooks Koepka. My heart is with Justin Rose and, if his amazing short game continues, he may well win but my head says that Koepka will come through to make history.
