Barring something quite extraordinary, it looks like the Ryder Cup will be staying in the USA after the 2020 Ryder Cup. It is difficult to see anything stopping Team USA from getting the 3½ out of the 12 points on offer in Sunday's singles to regain the cup.

Sahith Theegala is one stroke back in second, while Shane Lowry has forced himself into contention after matching Schauffele's 62 from Thursday's opening round, including reaching the turn in 29 strokes.

Xander Schauffele exploded out of the gate to record the lowest round in US PGA Championship history (62) hitting the top of the leaderboard in the PGA Championship at Valhalla. Current Olympic champion Schauffele began from the 10th tee firing five birdies in his first nine holes and then added four on his back nine in a bogey-free display.
