Torrey Pines revisited: 2008 U.S. Open

The 2008 U.S. Open at Torrey Pines was probably the major that summed up Tiger Woods best. Hobbling around on one leg for most of the tournament, Woods refused to concede defeat and somehow contrived to break Rocco Mediate's heart and win his fifteenth major title.

Debutant Kim wins U.S. Women’s Open

Like a perfectly-timed finish by a thoroughbred racehorse, A Lim Kim delivered her challenge to storm to victory at the 75th U.S. Women’s Open. One moment she was two back from the leader and the next before Amy Olson and Jin Young Ko knew what had happened she had gone clear into an almost unassailable lead.

Olson aces opening round at U.S. Women's Open

A U.S. Women’s Open unlike any other commenced on a sun-splashed Thursday at Champions Golf Club. We’ve had enough slow play

Brooks Koepka had just teed off in the final round of the Open. We then heard ‘on the tee, JB Holmes from the USA’, the camera zoomed in on the man sitting in third place at Royal Portrush, then nothing. The guy looked confused as he suddenly wasn’t sure about something. Was it the wind had shifted? Had he changed his mind at to which club to take? Or perhaps he’d left the cooker on back at the house? Whatever it was he’d been standing on that tee for a good few minutes waiting for his tee time and he clearly was not ready.

That’s better Jordan!

Jordan Spieth is very much making the headlines at Pebble Beach.  An eventful second round sees him 1 under par overall after making seven birdies and five bogeys and apparently learning a lesson from Thursday by acknowledging that he is the one making the shots!

You’re the one hitting the ball

Jordan Spieth was having a decent round yesterday. Level par for the first seven holes and all was well with the world, until the par four 8th.  On a hole that requires precision and tidy positioning off the tee, Speith’s tee shot hit the fairway but then rolled too far, ran out of runway and dropped over the cliff edge.

RBC Heritage: CT Pan wins first PGA Tour title

CT Pan became only the second players from Chinese Taipei, or Taiwan as it is better known, to win on the PGA Tour and the first since 1987 when TC Chen won the Genesis Open. The diminutive Pan held his nerve over the final few holes to take the crown and earn himself a $1.2 million pay day.

RBC Heritage Latest

Following the storm delays of Friday, Shane Lowry completed his second round on Saturday morning, retaining his one shot lead over the field. His impressive run of bogey free golf continued with only one in his first 48 holes but he then dropped a shot at his next two holes. He did well at the 14th to only drop the one shot as his approach found the water and it required a fine long putt to rescue the situation.
