Michael Thompson birdied two of the last three holes to hold off a late charge from Adam Long to record a two-stroke win at the 3M Open in Minnesota. Thompson had shared the overnight lead with Richy Werenski with Charl Schwartzel and Tony Finau two shots back but it was Long who set the target after a final round seven-under-par 64.

Georgia Hall recovered from a poor start at Bearwood Lakes to take the event by a single shot from a group of six players that included Meg MacLaren, a winner of the second event in the series at Moor Park. IG has today announced its continued commitment to women’s golf by extending its title partnership of the AIG Women’s Open by two years, to 2025. Under the new agreement, the championship will now be known as the AIG Women’s Open as part of a rebrand undertaken by The R&A and AIG.

Jon Rahm was overcome with emotion as he took victory at the Memorial Tournament to grab the World number one spot from Rory McIlroy and emulate his hero Seve Ballesteros as only the second Spaniard to top the rankings. The big man's margin of victory would have been even higher but for a two-shot penalty for inadvertently moving his ball at address on the 16th hole.

Despite dropping three shots in her last three holes, Gabriella Cowley held on to win the fifth Rose Ladies Series event at the JCB Golf and Country Club. She carded an excellent two-under-par round of 70 to win by one shot from a group on one-under that included Charley Hull and Georgia Hall. We've all been there. One day we play great golf, nailing the drives and holing putts from everywhere, and the next – well complete rubbish. This phenomenon, however, is not purely an affliction of the amateur golfer as demonstrated by Matt Every who shot the lights out in round one of the Arnold Palmer invitational with a bogey-free seven-under-par 65 only to go out on Friday and shoot 83 and miss the cut!

The Belgian leads by one shot from David Lipsky of the USA with a gaggle of twelve players, which includes Englishman Eddie Pepperell, Robert Karlsson of Sweden and Dane Søren Kjeldsen, a further shot back.

Bryson DeChambeau has been making much of his new physique ahead of this week’s Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship. Apparently, he has better Abs than Brooks Koepka and he will be playing even faster now as he will be bombing the drives. He may be right about the speed of play this weekend though as he missed the cut!

With all due respect to Rory McIlroy, Tiger Woods et al we think the Golf Writers Association of America (“GWAA”) were spot on in voting for Brooks Koepka as Player of the Year for 2019. Koepka’s performance at the four majors was undeniable impressive – to win one, finish second in two and tie fourth in the other is quite some feat.

The gods were smiling on Justin Thomas in Hawaii on Sunday. Two clear, with three to go it looked like he had the Tournament of Champions in the bag. However, two sloppy bogies in his last three holes saw him have to win a play-off against Patrick Reed and defending champion Xander Schauffele.
