Minjee wins in the moonlight

Australia’s Minjee Lee captured her first LET title at the OMEGA Dubai Moonlight Classic with a clutch birdie putt from twenty feet at the first extra hole to beat France’s Celine Boutier in a thrilling shoot-out under the Middle Eastern moonlight. Solheim Cup Day 2

It was a brutal day at Gleneagles with high winds, rain and low temperatures testing the mettle of both teams. Team USA came out narrowly on top taking the afternoon fourballs by 2½ matches to 1½ after the morning foursomes had been shared.  So, it is all tied at 8-8 ahead of the twelve singles today and the Americans, given their past record in singles, must be viewed as the favourites.

Lacoste Ladies Open Final

Nelly Korda shot a four-under 67 to win the Lacoste Ladies Open to take her first European Title.  Blustery conditions made it challenging at Golf du Medoc and despite being in a final round containing two local favourites, Korda managed to hold off Joanna Klattern and Céline Boutier for her maiden win on this side of the pond.

Hedwall still on top in Dubai

Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall added a two-under-par bogey-free round of 70 to yesterday’s effort of 65 to maintain a narrow one-shot lead at nine-under-par from England’s Meghan MacLaren heading into the final round at the OMEGA Dubai Moonlight Classic. Luckily tomorrow’s final round doesn’t begin until 5 pm (local time), giving her adequate time to turn in her papers before the deadline.

Olson leads the way at Royal Troon

Scotland’s Catriona Matthew rolled back the years on the links, but it is American Amy Olson who leads after the opening round of the AIG Women’s Open. At a blustery Royal Troon, with gusts nearing 30 mph for the international field, Olson emerged late in the day to reach four-under-par after an excellent 67 at the first women’s Major of the year.
