Four of the finest golf courses in Great Britain and Ireland have been confirmed as new venues to stage Final Qualifying for The Open. Burnham & Berrow, Dundonald Links, Royal Cinque Ports and West Lancashire will host qualifying events starting in 2023 until 2026 when tour players, club professionals and elite amateurs compete for places in golf’s original championship.

Thriston Lawrence opened up a commanding four shot lead after matching the lowest round of his DP World Tour career twice at the weather-delayed Joburg Open. The South African managed to avoid the storms around Randpark Golf Club on Friday to record a second consecutive round of 65 and get to 12 under par, four clear of countryman Zander Lombard, who carded a 67.

Not since the heydays of one Tiger Woods have we seen such a dominant performance. Johnson was out of the traps fast with his opening seven-under-par 65 and despite a slightly lacklustre showing on Friday he stormed it from there. Add to this that the lucky so and so is engaged to the lovely Paulina Gretzky and he is a really genuinely nice guy and we are somewhat jealous! Course conditions
