Coming down the stretch, it was a two-horse race. It was a straight battle between Nelly Korda and Brooke Henderson as to who would take the second women’s major of the year. However, lady luck had different ideas and she was shining down on South Korea’s Mirim Lee. Many of the top Koreans have stayed away due to fears over Coronavirus but Lee decided to take part.

Dustin Johnson teed off in the final round of the PGA Tour finale Tor Championship and as expected, it was pretty much plain sailing. His lead was cut to two at one point as Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele took a run at the world number one but a birdie at the last capped off a final round 68 and a three-shot victory.

The Englishman showed composure over the renowned links in Southport to defeat fellow Englishman and good friend Joe Harvey, 23, in an exciting 36-hole final. Long recorded a 4&3 victory, to become the first Englishman since Harry Ellis in 2017 to win The Amateur Championship.
