George Coetzee secured his fifth European Tour title - and his first on European soil - after producing a short game masterclass to hold off the chasing pack and win the 2020 Portugal Masters by two shots. Coetzee began the day with a one shot advantage but was knocked off the top of the leaderboard early on after parring his opening six holes in a patient start to his final round.
Dustin Johnson teed off in the final round of the PGA Tour finale Tor Championship and as expected, it was pretty much plain sailing. His lead was cut to two at one point as Justin Thomas and Xander Schauffele took a run at the world number one but a birdie at the last capped off a final round 68 and a three-shot victory.

Rasmus Højgaard became only the second teenager to win twice on the European Tour after edging out Justin Walters in a play-off for the 2020 ISPS HANDA UK Championship. On a dramatic final day at The Belfry, the 19-year-old from Denmark came from five strokes back to finish level with Walters on 14 under par.

Germany’s Sophia Popov claimed a magnificent first Major title as she held off international challengers to win the AIG Women’s Open at Royal Troon. The 27-year-old, who came into the championship ranked 304th in the world and without a main tour victory, secured the winner’s cheque of $675,000 after a stunning two-stroke success over the famous Ayrshire links.
Andy Sullivan took a one shot lead after round two of the English Championship, firing a nine-under par round of 62 as the sun shone on Hanbury Manor Marriott Hotel and Country Club. South African Dean Burmester matched Sullivan’s back nine 28 in a round of 63 that left him a shot off the lead alongside another Englishman in Laurie Canter, who recorded a 65.
Talented English junior golfers, Corey Neville and Ellen Hume, have won the first events of the 2020 Faldo Series Europe calendar, securing their places at Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club for the Europe Grand Final in November. Dustin Johnson overcame blunders on the back nine to take his first PGA Tour event in over a year. The now World number three saw off the challenge of Kevin Streelman to win by a single shot after carding a final-round three-under-par 67. American Will Gordon and Canadian Mackenzie Hughes finished tied for third on 17 under.
The US PGA Championship will go ahead behind closed doors on the rescheduled dates of 6th to 9th August. The event moved from its original date in mid May will be the first major of the year and is taking place at TPC Harding Park in San Francisco.
While Justin Rose prepares for his first competitive round in months, he and his wife are doing their bit for the women professionals back home. The couple has stumped up £35,000 as prize money for the series of events that kick off at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club on 18 June.
