The Spiv is back with the inside track....The WGC World Match Play is one of my favourite events of the year. I love Match Play. The only problem is that there isn’t enough of it around on the Tour. This makes it difficult to place a bet. An out of form player with a strong competitive nature can easily win this one.
Great to see Rory McIlroy winning the Players Championship last week. Our selection Tommy Fleetwood led well into the final round but faded to finish 5th. Two televised events this week but the EuropeanTour event low key so we concentrate on the Valspar Championship on PGA tour.
We hit the cross bar again last week with Adrian Otaegui 45/1 losing in the final of Australia super six. Then over in America at the Genesis Open both our selections Adam Scott 38/1 and Marc Leishman 55/1 got to within 1 shot of the lead in final round only to lose out to the slowest player in world golf J B Holmes, the PGA need to act fast to eradicate slow play as it will stop people watching the game!!
GolfPunk selections at last week's Hong Kong Open finished 3rd Jason Schrivner 37/1, tied 6th Rafa Cabrera Bello 12/1 and Shubhanker Sharma 45/1. Three events this week....
1st and 2nd for GolfPunk readers at last week’s HSBC event!!! For most of the tournament Tony Finau 29/1 looked like winning, but our other selection Xander Schauffle 56/1 beat him in a play off !!!
The winning run came to an end last weekend with Sergio Garcia winning in Spain and Brooks Koepka in South Korea, both were favs so not on my radar for betting purposes! But we did get Ashley Chester placed at 74/1 in Andalucía and Gary Woodland 2nd at 40/1.

A welcome return to one of the worlds great golf courses, it’s been slightly redesigned by widening the fairways but it’s still a monster with the prospect for lightning fast greens. Immense skill required to even contend on this great course so I expect the top players to monopolise !!!
