After rounds of 68 and 65 on the first two days, the 24-year-old produced a final round of 69 to seal the victory. It was an excellent start to day three for Melichova who rolled in birdies on holes four, five, seven and nine to make the turn in 32 (-4).
When Minjee Lee first announced her presence at a USGA championship a decade ago by winning the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship, she was asked by Golf Channel reporter Steve Burkowski if more USGA titles were in the offing. Her two-word answer: “I’m coming.” That might have sounded like bravado, but it turned out to be prophetic.

Linn Grant won her second LET title in five starts in 2022 after firing a final round of 67 (-5) on the last day of the Mithra Belgian Ladies Open. The 22-year-old, who won the Joburg Ladies Open in March, recorded rounds of 66, 68 and 67 to hold off England’s Cara Gainer at Naxhelet Golf Club.
American Brittany Altomare notched a huge upset on Thursday at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play presented by MGM Rewards, coming back from a three-hole deficit to capture a 2-and-1 victory over top-seeded Minjee Lee.
