After four seasons in one event, The Players Championship concluded on Monday with Cameron Smith becoming the fifth Australian to pick up the coveted trophy and a cheque for a whopping $3.6 million. Overnight leader Anirban Lahiri of India and England's Paul Casey chased the Australian all the way but came up just short.
England's Matt Wallace carded eight birdies in a six-under-par 64 to grab a share of the lead at The RSM Classic alongside Colombian Camilo Villegas. The pair are a shot clear of a whole gaggle on five-under which includes major champion Keegan Bradley and the now Slovakian Rory Sabbatini. On arriving at the course on Thursday morning, Villegas saw a rainbow over the course which inspired him.
Sergio Garcia pulled out an excellent finish to the Sanderson Farms Championship in Mississippi to pip clubhouse leader Peter Malnati by a single shot and took his first PGA Tour event since his win at Augusta in the spring of 2017.

We then heard ‘on the tee, JB Holmes from the USA’, the camera zoomed in on the man sitting in third place at Royal Portrush, then nothing. The guy looked confused as he suddenly wasn’t sure about something. Was it the wind had shifted? Had he changed his mind at to which club to take? Or perhaps he’d left the cooker on back at the house? Whatever it was he’d been standing on that tee for a good few minutes waiting for his tee time and he clearly was not ready.
