The Spiv is back with the inside track....The WGC World Match Play is one of my favourite events of the year. I love Match Play. The only problem is that there isn’t enough of it around on the Tour. This makes it difficult to place a bet. An out of form player with a strong competitive nature can easily win this one.

Rory McIlroy lit it up last night, shooting a second round 65 at the WGC-Cadillac Championship. Jumping up to second place, Rory is two shots back of an in form Adam Scott.
It was a smashing Saturday in Shanghai as Jordan Spieth shot through the field with a blistering 63 at WGC-HSBC Champions. Nine birdies and no dropped shots has put Spieth just three shots off Kevin Kisner’s lead having started the day 10 shots back.
It was a day of fireworks as Branden Grace took a one shot lead at the WGC-HSBC Champions event in Shanghai.
Richard Bland beat fellow Englishman Lee Westwood by 2&1 to win his group and set up a last sixteen match with former world number one Dustin Johnson. The win also ensures that Bland will tee it up at Augusta for the first time at the ripe old age of 49.
Kevin Na is out after his loss against Adam Long on Thursday, but the group is wide open following Dustin Johnson and Robert MacIntyre's halved match. If both Johnson and MacIntyre win their games it is off to extra holes. It's going to a straight shoot out between Kevin Kisner and Matt Kuchar as both Justin Thomas and Louis Oosthuizen are eliminated after losing on day two.
It was a day of upsets at the World Golf Championships-Dell Technologies Match Play. Bryson DeChambeau's loss to Frenchman Antoine Rozner was the shock of the day closely followed by the hefty defeat Rory McIlroy suffered at Ian Poulter's hands.
Justin Thomas has beaten Si Woo Kim in an emphatic 6&5 victory to secure his quarterfinal place, and now faces Kyle Stanley in his quarter final. At the time of writing, he is three up through 12, and another step closer to taking the World No 1 position from Dustin Johnson, who crashed out in the first round.
World number one Dustin Johnson is out of the World Golf Championships with a game to play after a second straight defeat in Austin, Texas.
Adam Scott and the Zimmer frame putter? It’s yesterday’s news. We have all moved on. This was a back-to-back win for Scott, who started with a very bad back nine, which would have destroyed a lesser player.
