Carlota Ciganda became the second Spanish player to win the Andalucía Costa del Sol Open de España as she recorded a four-shot victory. The Solheim Cup star produced a final round of 67 (-5) to give her a winning total of 15-under-par for the tournament and she joined Azahara Munoz in winning her national championship.

The four-time LET winner has an excellent record in her national championship – recording seven top ten finishes in the seven she has played – and she continued that on day two at Los Naranjos Golf Club.

Australia’s Stephanie Kyriacou and Finland’s Sanna Nuutinen both carded rounds of 65 to continue sharing the lead at the Big Green Egg Open. The frontrunners, who were the overnight leaders, started the day on six-under-par but produced excellent rounds to finish on 13-under-par – four strokes clear of third place.

French amateur Lucie Malchirand and England’s Ellie Givens tied for the lead on the opening day of the Ladies Italian Open at Golf Club Margara. Malchirand set the early pace posting a six-under-par 66 to take the clubhouse lead while two birdies on the final two holes ensured Givens matched the Frenchwoman.

Sweden’s Caroline Headwall made headlines at the OMEGA Dubai Moonlight Classic after a bogey-free round of 65 (-7), which included a hole-in-one, fired her into a two-shot first round lead from morning leader Laura Fuenfstueck and fellow Solheim Cup player, Celine Boutier. The return of the LET to mainland Europe did not disappoint, with low scores galore on the international leaderboard at the 2020 Tipsport Czech Ladies Open at Beroun Golf Club. Leading the pack after day one is perhaps the hottest player on the LET right now, Emily Kristine Pedersen, who continued her run of good form, firing a ‘career-low’ first round of 63 (-9).

Following on from our recent rant concerning etiquette the writer took to the course this morning. It was a stableford competition (points system) a normally quicker format as a lost ball is not the end of the world and if you can’t score on a hole you pick up. It is those lovely medal events that often bring the course to a grinding halt with all competitors having to finish out every hole.
