Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm Confirmed for Ryder Cup

Duo make Luke Donald's European team via the European Points List

Northern Ireland's Rory McIlroy and Spain's Jon Rahm have had their places on the European team for the 2023 Ryder Cup confirmed.
RORY MCILROY
Age: 34
Ryder Cup ranking: 1 (European Points)
Ryder Cup appearances: 6 (2010, 2012, 2014, 2016, 2018, 2020)
Ryder Cup record: 12-12-4

How did he qualify?
After becoming just the second man in history to win both the Race to Dubai and the FedEx Cup in the same year in 2022, the 34-year-old began 2023 with his first Rolex Series victory of the year at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic.
Since that triumph, McIlroy has finished inside the top ten in all four Major Championships – including his runner-up finish at the U.S. Open - and claimed a dramatic victory at the Genesis Scottish Open at The Renaissance Club to secure a second Rolex Series title in July.
McIlroy has found form at a great time. In his last seven appearances worldwide, he has not finished worse than a tie for ninth, and currently sits atop of the European Points List.

JON RAHM
Age: 28
Ryder Cup ranking: 2 (European Points)
Ryder Cup appearances: 2 (2018, 2020)
Ryder Cup record: 4-3-1

How did he qualify?
After closing out the 2022 season with victories at the Acciona Open de España and at the DP World Tour Championship, Rahm carried that impressive form into 2023 and has the resume to prove it.
He began the year with back-to-back wins on the PGA TOUR at the Sentry Tournament of Champions and American Express Championship, and did not have to wait long until he was back in the winner’s circle again at The Genesis Invitational.
A fourth triumph landed Rahm his first Green Jacket and second Major title at The Masters in April, carding a final round 69 on Sunday to win by four strokes on what would have been the 66th birthday of the late, great Seve Ballesteros. Since then, he has finished inside the top ten on three occasions, including runner-up finishes at both the U.S. Open at The Los Angeles Country Club and the 151st Open at Royal Liverpool.

The 2023 Ryder Cup will take place between September 25 – October 1 at Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, Rome, Italy.
