Faldo Series breaking records

Wales Championship entries have spiralled

The Faldo Series is set to break its own record of the largest field in its 24-year history next week as 260 junior golfers tee it up across the Vale Resort and Cottrell Park for the Wales Boys & Girls Championship.

The Series had previously seen its largest ever field compete at Brocket Hall just one month ago, but entry numbers for its latest qualifier event in Wales have spiralled – meaning the event will now take place over the two courses to accommodate a record-breaking field.
93 junior girls will also tee it up, another record-breaking milestone for the Series, beating the previous biggest field for the girls and continues to demonstrate excitement for the future of the Girls game as it goes from strength to strength.
To celebrate these new records, the tournament will also become the first ever Series event to be live-streamed via Facebook, as junior golfers continue to show their appetite to compete in a revised European schedule after lockdown.

Action from the final day will be brought to social media via a streaming partner, ContentLIVE, and available for viewers via the Faldo Series Facebook page, as well as popular golf media outlets, National Club Golfer, Golf Magic and Women & Golf.
Matthew Faldo, Director of the Faldo Series, said: “Over the last month we have seen the enthusiasm from junior golfers to return to competitive golf with record-breaking numbers for the Faldo Series. This week’s milestone is a fantastic achievement for the Series and really does go to show the promise of junior golf and the optimism for the next generation within the game.”
“We are thrilled to showcase the Faldo Series players talents at the Wales Championship with ContentLIVE and it will be a great experience for the players to show what they can do on camera! It’s amazing to break our record from Brocket Hall earlier this season, and we look forward to some exciting golf over the next couple days.”

Ian Waterhouse, Founder of ContentLIVE, said: “We are incredibly excited to showcase the Faldo Series and bringing live-action of some of the best junior golfers across the UK to our partners, Faldo Series and our own social channels.”
“We are looking forward to meeting some of the champions of tomorrow and being a part of a historic moment for the Series as it welcomes its largest field at an event to date.”
The Faldo Series team and both the Vale Resort and Cottrell Park staff will go above and beyond to ensure the health, safety and wellbeing of all players and staff at the event remain uncompromised, with sanitisation stations, social distancing and reduced touchpoints implemented and signed throughout the event. Players continued to use the Faldo Series app to complete all scoring.
The Wales Championship will begin on Monday 10th Aug with the winners crowned on Wednesday 12th. Due to the number of players and highly talented field, the top two from each category will be rewarded with an invite to the 24th Faldo Series Europe Grand Final come November at the Al Ain Equestrian, Shooting and Golf Club in Abu Dhabi which will mark yet another first for the Faldo Series.
