Heritage Golf Club Wins

Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Course award

Heritage Golf Club in Mauritius has been named ‘Indian Ocean’s Best Golf Course’ for the second year in a row at the annual World Golf Awards. World Golf Awards serves to celebrate and reward excellence in golf tourism through their annual awards programme, and is part of the World Travel Awards.

The award comes at an exciting time for Heritage Golf Club, which has firmly cemented itself as a true championship golf course following the success of the Inaugural AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open in May this year.

The AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open is the first ever tri-sanctioned golf tournament endorsed by the European, Asian and Sunshine Tours, and was held at Heritage Golf Club on the 7th to the 10th of May this year. This year’s winner was George Coetzee.

The course was also selected to host the most prestigious amateur event in the Indian Ocean– the MCB Indian Ocean Amateur. This is the only event in the region that carries world-ranking points for amateur golfers. The tournament took place between the 23rd and 25th October.

Heritage Golf Club has appointed a new professional golf ambassador: Henni Zuel. Henni is an English professional golfer and the youngest ever player to join the Ladies European Tour as an amateur. She was a nominee for Britain’s Best Awards for Home Grown Talent and entered the professional Ladies European Tour after turning pro in 2008. Interestingly, she also has Mauritian ties, both her parents are from Mauritius and she still has relatives living there. www.heritageresorts.mu/en/golf.html
