Danny Willett forced to withdraw from British Masters

Due to back injury

Danny Willett has withdrawn from the British Masters after he suffered a back injury during Wednesday's pro-am.

Willett appeared to be in discomfort as he clutched his lower back after hitting a drive late in his pro-am round, and he had hoped that treatment on Thursday morning would solve the problem.

But the Masters champion announced his withdrawal shortly before he was due to begin his first round at 12:35pm alongside  "Beef" Johnston and Alex Noren.

Justin Rose is also out of the British Masters with a back injury, so the long season has started taking its toll, and the event will be without The Masters and Olympics winners.
