ARCCOS predicts glory in Dubai for Fleetwood

ARCCOS PREDICTS GLORY IN DUBAI FOR FLEETWOOD

Arccos, the market leading golf data and artificial intelligence company, has predicted that Tommy Fleetwood will come out on top in his contest with Francesco Molinari this week when they face off at the DP World Tour Championship in Dubai.

Arccos Caddie – the company’s award-winning A.I. platform – leveraged the personal shot data from the two players to calculate the ideal strategy on each hole of the Earth Course based on how far and accurately Fleetwood and Molinari hit their clubs. Arccos Caddie also takes into account elevation and wind speeds at the course from the day the simulation was conducted.

Powered by Microsoft Azure Machine Learning, Arccos Caddie offers three different strategies for every shot on any hole in the world. It calculates these strategies by taking into account the user’s shot history, historical performance of other Arccos users, the wind and weather conditions, elevation changes, hole geometry, hazard locations and more.

Based on their respective performances at the BMW Championship and the Tour Championship this year, Arccos was able to upload the performance statistics of the two players and simulate how they would perform on the Earth Course at Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai.

Andrew Turner, Arccos’ Global Sales Director said: “The data we have been able to produce using Arccos Caddie provides a logical insight into what Fleetwood and Molinari are likely to score and what club choices they will make. It’s an exciting analysis heading into the tournament, with both players fighting for the Race to Dubai trophy, so it will be interesting to see how close we get with the prediction.”

The results indicated that Fleetwood will finish each round one shot better off than Molinari, finishing the tournament four shots clear of his Ryder Cup partner.

The sensational Ryder Cup partnership widely known as ‘Moliwood’, currently sit in first and second place in the Race to Dubai and are the only two players who can take home the trophy leading into the final event of the competition this week. A finish of solo second or better will guarantee the current leader Molinari the trophy, whereas to keep hold of his crown, Fleetwood needs a victory, with Molinari finishing worse than a tie for fifth. The round analysis conducted by Arccos could alter during the event, as the pin positions at the Earth Course may have changed and the weather conditions will be different to what they were during the original test.
