Golfers connect with world's first smart cart

As Motocaddy S5 CONNECT flys onto the fairways

Golfers have really connected with the world’s first Smart Cart as sales of the new S5 CONNECT electric trolley have exceeded expectations according to Motocaddy.

The most technologically advanced trolley on the market has accounted for more than 40% of all Motocaddy electric trolley sales during its first few weeks on-sale – over twice the level forecast by the brand.

In addition, Motocaddy’s free GPS app has already been downloaded by more than 30,000 golfers. The app, which is available for both iOS and Android devices, connects to the trolley to provide distance data and mobile alerts at over 40,000 golf courses around the world.

“The response from golfers of all ages across the country has been phenomenal,” said Marketing Manager, Oliver Churcher. “Motocaddy has pioneered many trends in the trolley industry, but the S5 CONNECT is up there as the most dynamic launch in the brand’s history. We’ve also backed up the trolley’s impressive introduction by launching a comprehensive ‘Get Smart, Get Connected’ promotional campaign across various media platforms that highlights a number of compelling reasons why golfers of all ages should switch on to the S5 CONNECT,” he added.

A golf club where the S5 CONNECT has been extremely popular is one of the oldest in England at Newbury & Crookham in Berkshire.

“In a short space of time, we’ve sold over half–a–dozen S5’s and to players of all ages, from juniors to senior members,” said Head Professional Barry Newman. “The launch of the S5 CONNECT has certainly shaken up the GPS market as it’s offered at such a good price. Golfers appreciate that it provides ‘at a glance’ course information and also the convenience of having access to key smartphone alerts when you need it right there on the trolley handle without the need to use another device,” he added.

Royal Mid-Surrey in Richmond is another club where the technology behind the S5 CONNECT has been a revelation to members.

“We sold our first S5 CONNECT trolley to a junior member who couldn’t believe that the technology included could be managed through a smartphone,” said Dan Leeke PGA Assistant Professional at the club.

“It’s a truly revolutionary product that I knew our members would love. The S5 CONNECT has changed the trolley game completely and tech–savvy golfers both young and old are engaging with the new trolley,” he added.

The S5 CONNECT is available now in Black or Alpine colour frame at a Recommended Retail Price of £549.99 with Standard Lithium Battery and £599.99 with Extended Lithium battery. A downhill control model (DHC) is also available in a Graphite colour frame at a RRP £599.99 (Standard) and £649.99 (Extended). All battery options now include a full five–year warranty.
