Cobra Puma Golf Sponsor PGA EuroPro Tour

Why their support could help find a major winner

"Why didn't anyone ask me to play on the EuroPro Tour?"

While Cobra PUMA Golf have made headlines by the big ticket signing of Bryson DeChambeau, it’s with the support of the players you haven’t heard of yet that’s impressing us at GPHQ. Cobra PUMA Golf have announced an expanded partnership with the PGA EuroPro Tour. Here’s why we think it’s important.

One week in as a pro and the DeChambeau already looks like a signing that will pay for itself. Despite the cost of signing such an exciting prospect, the winner of the NCAA and US Amateur Titles is a sure thing. But by supporting the EuroPro Tour where young upstarts take their first step on the rungs to the European Tour, Cobra PUMA Golf are supporting the vital grass roots of the game.

At that level, golf isn’t the glamorous game we all see on TV. It’s not jet-setting around the world in private jets, whizzing around in Ferraris, and toasting cocktails with cheerleader wives. It’s three pros sharing hotel rooms to cut cost, with the two lucky ones getting to share a bed while the third sleeps in the bath. It’s finishing in the Top 10 yet not covering your cost for the week.

It’s practicing until your hands are bleeding, playing your final round and then driving back through the night to be back at the pro shop for six o'clock the next morning to sell Mars Bars and bottles of water. It can be a hard school but the EuroPro Tour can be the start of the journey that can go all the way to winning major championships.

"Yesss!... no sleeping in the bath for me tonight..."

Louis Oosthuizen and Charl Schwartzel were both on the EuroPro Tour, and they went on to win the Open and The Masters respectively. Nicolas Colsaerts, Jamie Donaldson, and Ross Fisher all graduated and have played in the Ryder Cup, while South African sensation, and the PGA Tour’s latest winner Brandon Grace was also a member.

Mark Freeman General Manager at COBRA PUMA GOLF said: “I am extremely pleased that we have not only extended our agreement with the PGA EuroPro Tour, but have also expanded it, with PUMA being the Official Partner for Footwear and Clothing, and COBRA the Official Partner for Equipment. We have been an Official Partner of the PGA EuroPro Tour since 2014 and have been impressed by its professionalism & passion, and commitment to continually improve what they deliver to both players and sponsors. We are proud of our association with the Tour and look forward to working with them and the future stars of the game.”

It’s by supporting these youngsters who haven’t won Amateur Championships or gained US scholarships, that give the less privileged young talents a route all the way to the European Tour. By supporting them with Cobra King equipment, Titan Tour Ignite footwear, and Puma Apparel, it is one less thing these pros have to worry about, leaving them to concentrate on their golf.
