The Open Betting Special!

Bringing the Birkdale bookies to their knees!

I'm like a kid at Christmas, finally the The Open Championship has come back to Royal Birkdale. It's going to be a hotly contested affair, and the bookies are all fighting for your money. SkyBet is paying up to 10 places! Sounds great but as always, there is a catch. They are only paying one-fifth for Each Way. Other are extending their Each Way places but still at one-quarter so best to have a good shop around. It might seem good at the time but you may end with less.

This is quite possibly the most wide open major of the year. Surprises happen at Royal Birkdale. Ian Baker-Finch and Mark O’Meara have defied the odds at Royal Birkdale so it is always best to have a look lower down the list as well. It is a tough track, so look for someone who .

So on current form, here's who I reckon you should be putting your hard earned cash on.

Jon Rahm 18/1 Gentingbet

Rahm has been in brilliant form recently and just added the Irish Open to his trophy cabinet. This proved he could be a contender at the Open, blowing away his competition on the links of Portstewart. He looks the complete package and the bookies have made him fourth favourite.

Tommy Fleetwood 25/1 GENTINGBET

Tommy Fleetwood has come home, and he playing the Open in his backyard. For some that might be difficult to handle but Tommy is flying heading into Royal Birkdale. With the exception of the BMW PGA at Wentworth, Fleetwood has five top 10 finishes from his six events including victory at the Open de France. No wonder he leads the Race to Dubai. Get this price whilst you can as this one will drop.

Phil Mickelson 50/1 GENTINGBET

Already the owner of a Claret Jug, Phil went to great lengths to adjust to the links to win at Muirfield. Age is not a factor for this golfing evergreen, he's still one to watch and a dark horse to do well at Royal Birkdale. He's got all the shots, and he'll need them to compete around Royal Birkdale

Rafa Cabrera Bello 50/1 GENTINGBET

This is not a printing mistake...what you are seeing is true. At the time of publication, Cabrera Bello is at 70/1. Massive odds for the man who just won the Scottish Open. Dundonald though this is not and Royal Birkdale will throw up some challenges but at these odds, you have pay attention to the Spaniard.

Bill Haas 125/1 GENTINGBET

Haas is my outside bet for The Open. T-5th at the U.S Open and was in contention at Royal Troon. Might not be everyone’s cup of tea but a top 10 finish last year makes a solid dark horse. At 150/1, I’d fancy those odds.
