Profile: Solheim Superstar Danielle Kang

Taking the world by storm... eventually...

Danielle Kang may not have been on your radar before she tore the European Solheim Cup team apart in Des Moines but she should have been. She won the US Womens Amateur twice, in 2010 and 2011 and, as you probably do know, she won her first major his year, the 2017 KPMG Women's PGA Championship.

Born in San Francisco, Danielle grew up in Southern Cali, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Open as a 14-year-old in 2007. Which is quite an accomplishment when you think about it.

Her rise on the LPGA has not been stellar. She played 19 events on the LPGA Tour in 2012, making 13 cuts and finishing the season with $239,184.00 in her back pocket (minus expenses!), putting her 52nd on the official LPGA season-ending money list. This qualified Kang for full status on the LPGA Tour in 2013.

2014: 51st on the money list with just over $300,000.00

2015: 67th on money list with nearly $300,000.00

2016: 36th on the money list with just over $500,000.00

So, when you're looking for your first LPGA Tour victory, why not make it the PGA? A major. And in doing so, you leap up to 11th on the money list (over $800,000.00 in earnings) and are a shoe-in for the Solheim Cup, at which you debut with two wins in your opening two matches... Blimey....
