It’s the Golf Brigadier here, and I’ve never had a proper pair of golf shorts before in all my days of golf foozling. Not a real, proper pair, actually designed for the golf course. Until I received a pair of adidas Ultimate 3654 golf shorts.

The PGA championship is the last major tournament of the season, soon to be followed by the Fed Ex play offs!! The career grand slam event only achieved by 5 golfers Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus, Gary Player, Ben Hogan and Gene Sarazen, while Bobby Jones won a true golf grand slam in 1930.
What a great last day at the Open last Sunday, there were at least 12 possible winners with 6 holes to go and it's fair to say Tiger is back!!! The winner Francesco Molinari by 2 shots from Justin Rose but it was Tiger that had the crowd on its feet!!!
Two events this week the Scottish Open and the John Deere Classic. We concentrate on the Scottish Open, the last event before The Open. Two near misses last week in Ireland with both Jon Rahm and Andy Sullivan placed!!
It’s the Players Championships in the USA; I haven’t tipped Tiger Woods but I feel he is close to winning soon.
Brilliant first European tour success for our selection 70/1 Eddie Pepperell at the Qatar Masters, it looked until the last few holes that one of our selections Tommy Fleetwood or Alex Noren would prevail over in USA but the brilliance of Justin Thomas won the day !!

GolfPunk loves the different side of golf. The side that has developed in what is almost certainly the oldest sport in the world and which in its professional ranks contains some of the biggest characters sport has ever seen and amongst its amateur fanatics certainly contains the biggest. After all, loving the game of golf (or loving to hate it and hating to love it) does not rely on your professional status.
No matter what game you play, gambling is always fun, especially when played with friends. Imagine mixing the game of golf and gambling over it.

Great to see Rory McIlroy winning the Players Championship last week. Our selection Tommy Fleetwood led well into the final round but faded to finish 5th. Two televised events this week but the EuropeanTour event low key so we concentrate on the Valspar Championship on PGA tour.

Happy New Year to all GolfPunk followers. Just the one event this week in Hawaii, it’s a small but select field in which I do fear the two favourites, DustinJohnson and Jon Rahm the biggest hitters in the field but with wind forecast I think and hope there is value to be had elsewhere??? 9 points risked.

Golf depends on the weather. The winter months bring on the “Shall I, shan’t I” feeling. It’s rarely too hot to play a round but in the winter months, the wind, rain and snow can put us off playing. The expression “fair weather golfer” has become a little derisory; c’mon, a bit of wind and rain won’t hurt you! But, ice and snow… hmmm.
The Peaky Golfer is on a 12-month mission to tame the game. He plays off 18 but is determined to go pro. So much so that he's sold his house and bought himself a camper van to tour in. His short game is suspect and his wife's not happy...

Jeff Ritter helps you get out of the deep rough - a crucial play if you want to win the 118th US Open. Listen up people.
A welcome return to one of the worlds great golf courses, it’s been slightly redesigned by widening the fairways but it’s still a monster with the prospect for lightning fast greens. Immense skill required to even contend on this great course so I expect the top players to monopolise !!!

The European event this week is the Belgium knockout hosted by Thomas Pieter's and his wife, it's too much of a novelty event to get involved with, so we concentrate on the Byron Nelson in the USA.
Here are Nick Fleming's golf tips for this week's Wells Fargo Championship from Quail Hollow in North Carolina.
Everyone wants to be able to hit a draw. Especially on purpose. Well, as Blair shows us, it's actually not that hard...
So near to a 99/1 winner last week with Van Rooyen and Bjork 94/1, who both got to the joint lead in the final round only to lose to a determined Levy who is trying to get in Ryder cup squad!! The Masters – the year's first major and one of the truly great events. Won last year by Sergio Garcia (tipped by yours truly!) Most bookmakers paying out each way on top 10 including Betfair exchange. If you have a few accounts shop around. This week I am advising each way top 10 with a few more selections than normal.
It's the final event before the Masters!!! Best odds for Houston Open...
Great stuff from Rory McIlroy at last weekend's Arnold Palmer Invitational, he must have a great chance at this week's match play event, as has last year's winner Dustin Johnson. But we will try and look outside the two hot Favourites. This week's other event is low key, so we concentrate on the Dell Match play.
