Puglia has the reputation of being one of the poorer regions of Italy, which I’m finding hard to believe as I dabble my toes in the balmy, naturally- filtered seawater pool of the Masseria San Domenico.

Irish eyes were smiling on a thrilling final day of action at the Bridgestone International, and after several twists and turns a surprising winner came out on top. With over night leaders Jim Furyk and Justin Rose struggling to final round 72’s, it was left to Ireland's Shane Lowry to pick up the victory, with a final round of 66 at Firestone Country Club South.
Given the length and par combination, it doesn’t take much of a genius to work out there are some long par 4’s round the South Course at Firestone, and length off the tee is certainly important. That said, when scrolling through the database, the archives actually point to more of a rounded stats player as well as the good old “bomber” type.
A scintillating last day at the Ricoh Women's British Open saw Inbee Park triumph over the Ailsa course at Turnberry. Her final round 65 was a joint course record.
Stormy conditions at Turnberry led to a +5 cut yesterday. At the other end of the leaderboard, Suzann Pettersen shot a three-under-par 69 to take a two-stroke lead at -7 in the Women's British Open.
Tiger finishes the first round 3-under and five behind the leaders in the low scoring conditions in Virginia. Andy Sullivan is top Brit at 6-under.
