Christiaan Bezuidenhout moved into the top ten of the Race to Dubai following his four-shot win at the Alfred Dunhill Championship. A closing three-under 69 from the South African left him on fourteen-under-par well clear of a group of four players in joint second. "I'm really pleased I pulled it off," said Bezuidenhout, whose win moves him to ninth in the Race to Dubai.

For a moment, there was a doubt. Dustin Johnson had just made back to back bogies at the 5th hole and he suddenly looked human. Surely, we were not going to see another Masters meltdown or Johnson falling at the final hurdle once again. Some fifteen minutes later, it was panic over and back to business as usual. DJ clicked into overdrive and the pack had no chance of catching him.

Sweden’s Caroline Hedwall added a two-under-par bogey-free round of 70 to yesterday’s effort of 65 to maintain a narrow one-shot lead at nine-under-par from England’s Meghan MacLaren heading into the final round at the OMEGA Dubai Moonlight Classic. Luckily tomorrow’s final round doesn’t begin until 5 pm (local time), giving her adequate time to turn in her papers before the deadline.

Brian Gay rolled in his long birdie putt at the first playoff hole at the Bermuda Championship to beat a man almost half his age and become the oldest winner on the PGA Tour since Davis Love III in 2015. "Well, this is absolutely insane," said Gay after his round. "I’ve been playing awful since Covid… it’s been a struggle. I’ve been trying to work hard and get back."

Laurie Canter followed up his incredible first round of 60 at the Italian Open with a four-under-par 68 to take a two shot lead going into the weekend at Chervò Golf Club. 38-year-old McGowan carded a bogey-free round of 64 to keep Canter in his sights as he bids to lift a European Tour trophy for the first time since the 2009 Madrid Masters.

Scotland's Martin Laird held his nerve in a three-man playoff at the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open to grab his first PGA Tour victory for over seven years. A birdie at the second extra hole saw off the challenge of Americans Austin Cook and Matthew Wolff earning Laird the $1.26m winner's cheque. Mexico's Abraham Ancer finished in outright fourth place on 20 under par after a closing 67.
