Xander Schauffele exploded out of the gate to record the lowest round in US PGA Championship history (62) hitting the top of the leaderboard in the PGA Championship at Valhalla. Current Olympic champion Schauffele began from the 10th tee firing five birdies in his first nine holes and then added four on his back nine in a bogey-free display.
Nick Bachem won the 2023 Jonsson Workwear Open by four strokes after a final round of 64 in Johannesburg. The German headed a crowded leaderboard for much of the final day before pulling clear as his rivals faltered on the back nine.
Aditi Ashok continued her fine form in 2023 by firing a six-under-par round of 66 on day two of the Aramco Saudi Ladies International presented by Public Investment Fund. The Indian star backed up an excellent first day of 65 (-7) with the joint-best round of the day on Friday to post a total of thirteen-under-par and hold a two-shot lead at Royal Greens.
Aditi Ashok triumphed at the 2023 Magical Kenya Ladies Open winning the tournament by nine shots to secure her fourth LET title. The two-time Olympian produced the wire-to-wire victory at Vipingo Ridge, where a one-over-par round of 74 on the final day was enough for the win.
Majesticks GC teammates Ian Poulter and Lee Westwood are aiming to take full control of their fourball’s march to LIV Golf’s season-ending Miami semi-finals by making experience pay off at this week’s penultimate regular season Invitational at Stonehill, Bangkok.
The move to LIV Golf may pay early dividends to Henrik Stenson as he takes a three-shot lead into the final round of the LIV Golf Invitational at Bedminster. The Swede is not only looking good for the individual winner's cheque of $4 million but Team Majesticks GC, of which Stenson is a member, look sure to pick up at least the team second prize of $1.5 million.
Jessica Karlsson sits at the top of the leaderboard at the Amundi German Masters on twelve-under-par at the end of day two. It was a disrupted day of play on Friday as those players who teed off in the morning encountered a three-hour delay from 11 am until 2 pm due to severe weather.
Sweden’s Maja Stark produced a round of 69 (-3) to lead by one stroke after 36 holes at the Women’s NSW Open. The 22-year-old was the co-leader overnight having shot 68 (-4) in her opening round, but her second day at Coolangatta & Tweed Heads Golf Club was far from straightforward.
Play-offs aren’t always exciting (remember Mike Weir and wotsisname* in 2003?), but the three-way, 18-hole play-off in 1962 between Arnold Palmer, Gary Player and Dow Finsterwald, showed the most exciting player in the game at his thrilling best.
Becky Brewerton holds a four-shot advantage at the midway mark of the Investec South African Women’s Open after firing a resounding second round of 66 to finish on six-under-par and put herself in a commanding position in Cape Town.
