All eyes were set on the first tee at 12:25 p.m. yesterday, as Annika Sorenstam teed off for the first time in over twelve years, alongside major winner Anna Nordqvist and defending champion Madelene Sagstrom at the Gainbridge LPGA. The LPGA and World Golf Hall of Fame member made four straight pars to start the day, but disaster struck at the 5th hole, where she ran up a triple-bogey seven.

What is wrong with Patrick Reed? He is a great golfer but a rather marmite character who seems you either love or hate. Sadly, given his propensity to sail close to the wind with the golf rules, supporters are few and far between.

I’ve been golfing since, well let’s not go there but trust me it’s a long time. Over the years I have had all those favourite golf themed birthday cards umpteen times – especially the one where the frogs gather by the hole to avoid the ball from the guy hitting over the water to the green! I have also had a number of those golfing gifts which go in the cupboard and never see the light of day.

England's Matt Wallace carded eight birdies in a six-under-par 64 to grab a share of the lead at The RSM Classic alongside Colombian Camilo Villegas. The pair are a shot clear of a whole gaggle on five-under which includes major champion Keegan Bradley and the now Slovakian Rory Sabbatini. On arriving at the course on Thursday morning, Villegas saw a rainbow over the course which inspired him.

For the first time in her LPGA Tour career, Sophia Popov is the outright first-round leader. The 2020 AIG Women’s Open champion set a career-low opening-round of 64 at Pelican Golf Club this afternoon and holds a two-stroke advantage in the inaugural Pelican Women’s Championship presented by DEX Imaging and Konica Minolta. Thompson ultimately shot an even-par 70 on the day and is tied for 22nd.
