Rory McIlroy's Masters preperations in pieces

Earliest possible return is March...

Rory McIlroy's Masters preperations are in pieces after he admitted his earliest possible return to competitive golf is going to be the WGC in Mexico, just a month before Augusta beckons. His fractured rib is still a problem and he has been forced to pull out of February's Genesis Open and Honda Classic.

"I have an owweee"

He is now targeting a return at the WGC event in Mexico which starts March 2nd, just a month before the Masters, hardly ideal preperation time for winning your 5th major. Rory has already withdrawn from next week's Dubai Classic and is only able to pratice putting at this stage.

He will aim to complete the career Grand Slam at Augusta, the one major he has yet to win. Rory has been in the wars since complaining about back pain during the a couple of weeks ago, won by Graeme Storm in a play off with Rors. In the final day in Johannesburg Rory was dosed up on anti-infalmatories and played with his back taped up.

Speedy recovery, dude.
