Rahm and Im lead

On moving day at the DD Irish Open

Jon Rahm and Daniel Im are tied on -17 under after moving day at the DD Irish Open.

Jon Rahm shot another 67, and has now carded three excellent rounds of golf with 65, 67 and 67.

There have been bogeys – five in total – but these have been offset by 18 birdies and two eagles.

Daniel Im’s great form also continued today, as he carded a 68, to add to rounds of 64 and 67.

He doesn’t have Rahm’s eagle power, but he been remarkably consistent. In all, he’s dropped just two shots across his three rounds, and made 19 birdies.

542nd-ranked Im was tied for the lead with Benjamin Hebert after the first two rounds, and proceeded to birdie five of his opening 14 holes, dropping a single shot on the par 5 fourth.

He had to scramble at end, but still managed to card a 68.

France’s Benjamin Hebert is a stroke behind after carding a 69.

On a low-scoring day Julien Quesne and Scott Hend both shot 64s, and are respectively third and T6.

Justin Rose is still very much in the mix, and is also T6, after shooting a 66 with six birdies and not a single dropped shot. If Justin can keep the putter hot again tomorrow, he is still very much in with a shout, as he is only four shots behind the leaders.

This is by no means a done deal. We know that Rahm knows how to finish his dinner, but this is uncharted territory for Daniel Im.
