Francesco Molinari leads

At the Wells Fargo Championship

Francesco Molinari has taken the halfway lead at the rain-delayed Wells Fargo Championship.

Molinari was among 68 players who had to return early on Saturday to complete the second round following Friday’s three–hour weather delay at Eagle Point.

Molinari picked up two birdies and bogey in his seven outstanding holes to card a level–par 72, and is six-under, one stroke ahead of Billy Hurley III and John Peterson, and Ireland’s Seamus Power.

“I holed a couple of nice putts last night and then played well at the restart this morning, so obviously I’m pleased with where I am at the moment,” said Molinari.

Dustin Johnson also had to return to the course early to finish five holes of his second round.

He had two late bogeys to post a 75 and just make it through to the final two days.
