Top Five golf courses in Ohio

The Buckeye State has hosted the biggest tournaments

Golf remains one of the most popular sports in the USA and it seems to have a loyal following across Ohio, in particular. Residents of the Buckeye State love to follow the biggest tournaments and keep tabs on the world’s best pro players.

Just watching the biggest pro events is not the only way in which people in Ohio can get involved with golf, though. With the mobile sports betting market set to open in this state in January 2023, you can guarantee many will soon also be betting on golf. Just remember to find the top Ohio sports betting apps to use if you do plan to wager on this sport next year.
In addition, people across Ohio love to actually play golf and have some great courses to try. But which are five of the best to know about?
Muirfield Village
Found in Dublin, Ohio, Muirfield Village is a top-class golf course to experience. This is no surprise when you consider that this 18-hole beauty is not only a championship course but was designed by Jack Nicklaus. With a great variety of holes and beautiful scenery to take in as you go, this is a top choice.
Inverness Club
Although the USA has many famous courses that attract top events (as the PGA Championship coming to Oak Hill in NY shows), the courses found in Ohio really do stand out. The Inverness Club, set in stunning countryside in Toledo, is a prime example. Known for hosting multiple US Opens, look out for the last five holes that are known locally as ‘murderer’s row’!
Camargo Club
The Camargo Club at Indian Hill is another golf course you should consider playing when in Ohio. A full 18-hole course that comes in at 6,588 yards, it was one of famous course designer Seth Raynor’s last projects. From great facilities to perfectly manicured greens and tricky bunkers, this course really has it all.
The Golf Club
This gem in New Albany is one of designer Pete Dye’s earliest creations. It is a stunning place for golfers in Ohio to play and spend time at. Despite this, it has kept a relatively low profile over the years and is a private club that few know about. With wide fairways and a variety of complex greens, this is a course that tests your mettle.
Scioto Country Club
Columbus is a famous place in Ohio and home to the Scioto CC golf course. Although originally built by Donald Ross, it was given a revamp in 2005 by Michael Hurdzan. He brought Scioto’s charm back in spades and as a result, this is a very picturesque place to play. While the moat at hole 8 is now filled in, it remains an interesting course to get around.
Ohio has many fabulous golf courses to try
While the above are five of the best when it comes to playing golf in the Buckeye State, there are literally hundreds of others to check out. This makes Ohio a great place for golfers and anyone who enjoys heading out for a round.
