Zac Blair

Representing for all the GolfPunks

Someone who really caught our eye this weekend at The Barclays from Plainfield Country Club was one Zac Blair. He finished tied 4th with Zach Johnson on -10 and nine shots off the winner Jason Day.

Blair hails from Utah, and Salt City, so he’s a boy out of the Midwest. From 2009 to 2013 he was on the Brigham Young University golf team, and he was an All-American in 2012, winning four college events. He also won the 2013 Pacific Northwest Amateur.

The next step in his fledgling career was to qualify for the 2013 Web.com Tour, which he did as an amateur, and reached Final Stage which gave him limited status on that tour.

He then turned Pro and played on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica, making the cut on six out of seven outings, and achieving 3 top-tens. Not bad!

With this experience under his belt, it was time for the Web.com Tour, where he made seven cuts, which included a tied 2 finish. With a second placing at the Web.com Tour Championship, he earned his PGA Tour card for the 2014-2015 season. He was off and running.

Until his tied 4th at the Barclays, his best finish was a tied sixth at the 2015 Sony Open in Hawaii. He’s played in just one Major, which was the 2014 U.S. Open, where he finished tied 40th.

He’s a keen Twitter user, and yes he’s following GolfPunkHQ.com! Good work. He only follows 326 people, so we feel honored to be one of them. He’s also now following Dicky Pride, whose ‘note to self’ we featured yesterday.

Outside of golf he’s a big Eminem fan, and loves Dexter and Homeland. He’s also an avid Lego collector.

Golf is very much in the family as his Dad had 22 PGA Tour starts between 1981 and 2002. His dream fourball would be his dad, the athlete Tom Brady, and Tiger Woods.

And finally, his career earnings to date are $1,245,690, of which $363,000 was from The Barclays. Not a bad week at the office for sure.
