Trophee Hassan II is a go go

Seve inspires Younes el Hassani

He may only be ranked 1,117 in the World number, but Younes el Hassani says he played shots like Seve Ballesteros as he carded a second round 69 at the Trophee Hassan II in Morocco.

El Hassani, 43, lies one shot off the lead after making three birdies and 15 pars in Rabat, Morocco.

"I hit a couple of fairways and I also made a couple of recovery shots like Seve Ballesteros," said the local Moroccan golfer.

But it is Jason Scrivener, Francesco Laporta and Thomas Linard who are leading after carding four under par rounds of 68.

The European Tour and Ladies European Tour are staging both the men's and women's tournaments at the same venue for the first time this week.

The men are playing on the red course, while the neighbouring blue course is hosting the Lalla Meryem Cup. England's Florentyna Parker led at the end of the first day after a five under par round.

We do like the idea of two events being staged simultaneously, and think this is a great model for giving greater prominence to LET events. Good luck out there we say.
