Top Golf doctor banned from elite club

Claims he cheated during competitions

Dr Bing Michael Oei was expelled from Sydney's Australian Golf Club, as the club claimed he cheated by moving his golf ball during competitions.

Dr Oei,who runs the Musculoskeletal and Golf Injury Clinic in Mosman, appealed his expulsion with the NSW Supreme Court this week. He claimed that being removed from the club would damage his reputation.

But on Thursday Judge John Sackar ruled in favour of the club, and said there was no reason for the court to interfere in the club’s original decision.

Justice Sackar said that 'when pressed further as to what his attitude to the charges was, Dr Oei’s response was that he may have erred in throwing the ball rather than dropping it.'

'The board was entitled to reject the Plaintiff's account and find reasonably that he deliberately flouted the rules again to place himself in a more advantageous position,' he said.
