Tiger Woods soars up World Rankings

Which is stupid when you think about it...

Hang on a minute. How does that work?! Hideki Matsuyama wins the Hero Challenge on Sunday (his fourth win in five starts) and stays exactly where he was in the world rankings – 6th. Tiger finishes 15th (i.e. third from last) and he goes up 248 spots.

It's a long road back for Tiger

Tiger started the Hero Championship at number 898 in the rankings. He is now 650th. He's still lower ranked than Jason Knutzon and Javier Colomo but it's a big leap in the right direction.

Tiger's last meaningful world ranking was after his previous tournament, the Wyndham way back in 2015 when he entered his injury-forced sabbatical in 257th place in the world.

On the other hand he did spend a whopping 638 weeks as World Number One before that...
