Tiger Woods finishes Day 2 tied fifth

At the Hero Challenge

Tiger Woods finished Day 2 at the Hero Challenge tied fifth with Francisco Molinari, Matt Kuchar, Kevin Chappell and Hideki Matsuyama. But when he eagled the ninth he held the actual lead. Who saw that coming!?

Tiger shot a four under 68 to go to seven under , five shots off the lead as Charley Hoffman carded a magnificent 63, with six birdies, two pars and a single bogey on a front nine which he completed in just 31 shots.

On his back nine he carded a further six birdies, parred one hole and dropped shots on two holes to come in with 32 shots played for his 63.

But it was still very much Tiger Woods' day, and his gander will be massively up for Day 3.

Here's his drive on the ninth which delivered him an eagle, and the outright lead:

Tiger birdied the first, parred the second, and then it was back to back birdies on the third and fourth. He parred the next four holes, but then on the 9th eagled out to take the overall lead. Making the turn in 31, Tiger then parred the tenth, before another birdie on the 11th. He dropped a shot on the 12th, before parring through to 17. He bogeying on the par four 18th to come back in with a 37 to card his 68.

With opening rounds of 69 and 68, Tiger must be more than delighted with his efforts. It may be small field, without a cut, but he is up against players of the highest class.

Here's his new swing:
