The Open Tee Times and pairings

Here are the Supergroups

The 145th Open Championship tee times and pairings have been announced. Here are the Supergroups.

First off, and we do mean first off, is Colin Montgomerie, who fittingly will hit the opening shot of the 145th Open Championship at Royal Troon.

Monty’s home course is Royal Troon, and he will be paired with Marc Leishman and first reserve Luke Donald, who made it into the Open when South African Jaco Van Zyl withdrew to focus on the Olympic games.

At 9.03 am Jordan Spieth is out, and he’s playing with Justin Rose, and Shane Lowry. That’s a going to be a group with a great following.

Then at 9.25 am we have Danny Willett, Rickie Fowler and Jason Day. They are immediately followed by Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama and Bubba Watson, which could make for some very interesting viewing.

Two past Open winners are then teeing it up with Amateur Stefano Mazolli from Italy. 2003 winner at Royal St George’s, Ben Curtis, will join 1995 St Andrews winner John Daly.

In the early afternoon at 1.26 we will be seeing Ernie Els tee it up with Phil Mickelson and Lee Westwood. Is that a little cruel on Lee in terms of drawing attention to his lack of Majors and specifically an Open victory, or is it meant as a spur?

At 2.04 Dustin Johnson takes the stage with Martin Kaymer and Russell Knox, who originally hails from Inverness.

Right after them it’s the turn of defending Open Champion Zac Johnson to tee it up with Adam Scott and Henrik Stenson.

Some great groupings here. We are more than ready.
