Slattery Gets You Everywhere!

Again at the KLM

Lee Slattery shot a superb -7 under par 63 on moving day at the KLM Open to share the lead with Rafa Cabrera- Bella on -16. If Lee can get over the line tomorrow that will be back-to-back European Tour wins, after he bagged the Russian Open last week.

Paul Laurie pulled himself back into contention with another 63, and is just one-shot back from the leaders.

Our new Belgian Bomber, Antwerp born Thomas Pieters (no disrespect Nicky C), was thrashing it about again as well, after his maiden-win at the D+D Real Czech Masters in Prague just two weeks ago. He blazed it up today for sure, with a magnificent 62, which contained a solitary bogey and nine glorious birdies He came straight out of the traps with 4 birdies in a row.

Overnight leader Soren Kjeldsen of Denmark went into reverse gear, shooting a one-over-par 71 to fall back to tied 9th. Mikko llonen of Finland also shot a 62, so he’s put himself right into the mix.

With very recent wins for both Slattery and Pieters, we’d be surprised if it was not one of them with their hands on the trophy tomorrow afternoon. Or will the experience of Paul Lawrie make the difference?
