Shane Lowry auctions off his Masters Ace ball

And gets €5,000 for his troubles

Shane Lowry has auctioned off the golf ball he used for his hole-in-one at the 16th on Masters Sunday, and made a very tidy €5,000 for charity.

Shane Lowry sold the Srixon Z-Star XV golf ball, which he holed out on the 170-yard par three, signed it, and made it available for bids.

The winning bidder was Brendan O’Carroll, who wrote Mrs. Brown's Boys. All proceeds from the auction are going towards Danny O’Carroll’s fundraiser for the Buncrana victims and Pieta House, a charity that aims to help prevent suicide and self-harm.

Lowry said to the Irish Mirror: “I had kept the ball thinking I’d keep it myself, but I thought I’d probably get a good few quid for the charity in the auction. It’s only going to be sitting in my cabinet at home anyway.”

Good work Shane. We like your style.
