Gleneagles, the iconic Scottish hotel and sporting estate, will kick-off a spectacular summer of competitive golf with a sell-out International Pro-Am event in July, featuring its golf ambassador and former Open Champion, Paul Lawrie.

This unique golfing event, where guests can play, dine and celebrate in the footsteps of golfing legends, offers a full tournament experience while enjoying some of the finest golf and hospitality Scotland has to offer.

The third playing of this tournament (July 24-27) welcomes a worldwide cast, with teams from Scotland, England, USA, United Arab Emirates, Italy, Russia and even from the tiny Caribbean island of Aruba. Pros will be competing for a prize fund of £16,000, and amateurs £2,000.

Competitors will play across all three critically acclaimed 18-hole courses at Gleneagles, The King’s and The Queen’s - both James Braid classics regularly featuring in UK Top 100 listings - and The PGA Centenary Course, venue for The 2014 Ryder Cup and host for The 2019 Solheim Cup.

Gary Silcock, Director of Golf at Gleneagles, commented: “The International Pro Am is a celebration of golf and a celebration of Scotland. This event is rapidly becoming a must-experience tournament for amateur golfers and golf professionals around the world, who are immersed in an incredible four-days at our 850-acre Perthshire estate.”

The 2018 event has also attracted other big names from the world of golf and sport. A team from Italy will feature former Tour player, Emanuele Canonica, who claimed a European Tour title at Gleneagles in 2005, winning the Johnnie Walker Championship by two strokes.

Scotland’s former National football team manager, Gordon Strachan, will also play in the event, accompanied by former Scotland rugby union captain, Rory Lawson, and current player, John Barclay.

The great summer of golf then continues at Gleneagles, the No.1 Golf Resort in Britain & Ireland*, with the inaugural playing of the European Golf Team Championships, August 8-12, on The PGA Centenary Course.

This revolutionary new golf event will be part of the multi-sport Glasgow 2018 European Championship and will feature a 50/50 gender split in the field with male and female professionals competing for equal prize money.

The James Braid-designed King’s Course will then welcome the 100th playing of the Scottish Stroke Play Championship in August, while The Queen’s Course will see the second PING Scottish Mixed Championship in September.

“We have a fantastic summer programme of golf at Gleneagles as a pre-cursor to The Solheim Cup next year and the centenary of The King’s Course, and we look forward to welcoming guests, celebrity friends and stars from the men’s and ladies Tours to ‘The Glorious Playground’ for what is set to be a great celebration of our game,” added Gary.
