Rory in the Forbes Top 30 under 30

But where are the other young Europeans?

He may look like a berk, but what other golf berk gets trotted out at Old Trafford at half time?

International money & success magazine, Forbes, has put Rory McIlroy in their Top 30 Europeans Under 30 list. Well, in the entertainment category at least.

Mcilroy has been recognised alongside such massive stars as Adele, Novak Djokovic and Ed Sheeran (Oh F***Off  – Dep-Ed), while people we can’t claim to have ever heard of, such as PewDiePie (He run tings on Youtube – Intern Joe), and Little Simz (tumbleweed – everyone).

While the list features a good sample of people, and is indicative of not only the youngsters earning the big bucks, but people going through to the big time such as Star Wars duo Daisly Ridley and John Boyega, we’re not convinced Kelly Osborne and Dame Kelly Holmes are the most appropriate judges.

We want majors young lady.

Most frustratingly there are no other European golfers moving the needle enough to warrant inclusion. In the women game we need Charley Hull, Carly Booth, and Mel Reid to step up to the next level to get noticed; go forth and conquer the Americas young ladies.

Does this kid have what it takes to transcend his sport?

With the men, who is gonna bring the pain and really get noticed in the outside world? There’s Jordan Spieth and maybe Bryson DeChambeau blazing it up along with the likes of Tony Finau amongst others in the USA.

Australia have got Jason Day, South Africa Branden Grace. But who have we got in Europe? Matt Fitzpatrick is good, and if Thomas Pieters delivers on his long hitting promise, we could have a superstar on our hands.

Maybe we are being harsh but we’d like golf to be in a place where its young European players are moving the needle outside of the game, whereas, at the moment, they are barely causing a ripple within it.
