Rickie Fowler gets the job done

At the Honda Classic

Rickie Fowler got the job done at the Honda Classic, and won by four shots. But he certainly didn't make it easy for himself.

Fowler frittered away almost all of his four–stroke lead on a breezy day at the PGA National.

He started strongly with a birdie on the par 5 third, but then dropped a shot on the fourth, two on the sixth and a futher one on the ninth, interspersed with a birdie on the par 4 eighth, to make the turn in 37.

But by sinking long birdie putts, a 40-footer at the 12th hole followed by a 25–footer at the next, he managed to extend his lead to five strokes with two holes to play.

The dramas were not done yet, as he found a water hazard with a poor  tee shot at the par three 17th. He took a penalty stroke for a bogey, and was left with a very comfortable walk down the 18th for his first PGA Tour victory since 2015, and his fourth in total.

It was not to be Tyrrell Hatton's day as he shot a two over 72 to finish T4, but this final day experience can only stand him in good stead.

Gary Woodland and Morgan Hoffmann tied for second on eight–under, but this was Rickie's day, end of.
