Quinta do Lago wins again

Europe’s Best Golf Venue

Quinta do Lago’s status among the world’s elite golf resorts has received a major endorsement after being named as ‘Europe’s Best Golf Venue’ at the 2016 World Golf Awards for the second year running.

The sports and lifestyle destination fought off fierce competition to retain the title, and received the accolade at an awards ceremony at the Conrad Algarve in Portugal last weekend.

An eight-time host of the Portuguese Open, Quinta do Lago has reinvented itself over the last six years into one of the world’s great luxury lifestyle experiences, with the redesign of its North Course and the opening of the resort’s highly-acclaimed new Bovino Steakhouse among a number of changes.

The award is the fourth top honour that the resort has won at the World Golf Awards in the last three years and continues a great year of success which included, most recently, being named as Portugal’s number one golf venue in Golf World magazine’s inaugural list of the top 100 resorts in Europe.

Sean Moriarty, chief executive at Quinta do Lago, said: “It’s a great honour and privilege for Quinta do Lago to receive this award for the second year running at one of the game’s top industry events.

“A tremendous amount of hard work has taken place over the last six years on modernising the facilities here and the resort is now reaping the rewards.

“It has been a terrific year for the resort, with more people than ever taking the opportunity to enjoy our world-class golf and leisure facilities, and we’re looking forward to many more exciting times in the years ahead.”

The resort’s three championship courses are matched by outstanding practice facilities, with a state-of-the-art TaylorMade Performance Centre – the only such facility in southern Europe – and redesigned short game area available in addition to the resort’s Paul McGinley Golf Academy.
