Lisbon is hot as a Golf destination

Orizonte attracts record golfers

The appeal of Lisbon is greater than ever with ORIZONTE – Lisbon Golf reporting a rise in bookings of more than 40 per cent for the first five months of 2016 compared to the same period last year.

Offering value and choice on golf packages in and around the Portuguese capital, ORIZONTE has quickly become a firm favourite with travelling golfers, with total international sales increasing by 42 per cent between January and May.

The innovative brand’s golf courses are proving particularly popular in the UK, with more than 50 per cent of its rounds being booked by British golfers this year, followed by players in Sweden, Denmark, Finland and France.

And the upward trend is set to continue in 2016 and beyond, with advance bookings for the second half of the year already showing a 24 per cent increase compared to the corresponding period last year.

José Maria Cazal Ribeiro, from ORIZONTE – Lisbon Golf, said: “The popularity of the ORIZONTE brand continues to go from strength and strength, and these latest figures show that there is a real appetite among European golfers for what we offer.

“With an increase in direct flight routes from the UK, the chance to combine playing some of Portugal’s testing courses with enjoying outstanding culture and history is proving an irresistible option for visiting golfers, and we’re looking forward to the group continuing to flourish.”

ORIZONTE – Lisbon Golf offers the chance to play six of the leading courses in close proximity to Portugal’s capital in the beautiful Costa Azul region together with value for money on a wide range of accommodation options.

Included among its courses are Quinta do Peru Golf & Country Club, Ribagolfe – a host of the European Tour Qualifying School since 2009 – and Aroeira, twice the venue for the Portuguese Open and recently included among Europe’s Top 100 Courses.
