John Daly's PGA winning driver sold for $17,300.40

On Green Jacket Auctions

Over twenty-years ago an unknown John Daly burst onto the scene with a dramatic victory at the 1991 PGA Championship. And now his title–winning club has been sold at auction from a stunning $17,300.40!

Daly was ninth on the list of alternates, and he didn’t even bother to play a practice round at Crooked Stick Golf Club.

The rest is history, as he went onto claim the PGA Championship with a 12-under 276 for a three shot victory.

Green Jacket Auctions, which hosted the sale, describes Daly’s club as: “a highly unusual 44 1/2 driver with Cobra composite kevlar head with a titanium shaft.”

The bidding started at $1,000 but closed out at $17,300.40 Not bad for a second-hand piece of kit.
